Tim Heidecker Phoenix Concert reviews
Young the Giant are stupid good
Even if it's midsummer, do yourself a favor and bring a jacket when going to a concert at the Pacific Amphitheater at night.
The Steelwells were actually really good. I hadn't heard of them at all, nor did I bother to look them up before the concert. However, their music is mildly similar to Tim Heidecker - more mellow with less stage energy. They seemed to lack a lot of confidence on stage, but I enjoyed the music.
It's refreshing to hear them tweak some of their songs with changes in melodies and pace and all that. Sameer's voice is a lot grittier and he definitely uses more range. The instruments were also heavier than the album, which I really enjoyed. Even some of their more mellow songs like Apartment got everyone up and dancing. They played three new songs and a couple old ones from when they were The Jakes. The band has so much energy, it's ridiculous. Also, they played three new songs and a couple old ones from when they were The Jakes.
You can watch all the videos you want of Tim Heidecker on YouTube or whatever, but it does not do justice whatsoever to the performance you see live. Overall, DO NOT pass up the opportunity to see them, even if you're a casual fan.
